Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

Picture catch-up

Pinewood Derby.  Happy Scout!

The other day, Benson really wanted to catch a bird.  It's a boy thing, I think.  So he build a trap!  There's bread and peanut butter under that tub and a number of ants too.  Then to be tricky, he sat in the van, in the driveway and waited.  And waited.  And waited.  And waited to pull that blue string down upon the bird.  The bird never came but he wasn't too disappointed.  It think half the fun was the building and anticipation.  Maybe tomorrow.

Just catching up on some reading on the trampoline for Miss Mabel!

Beautiful Claire at her dance recital.  She picked out her own shade of lip stick and was so So SO excited to be wearing it!

Kindergarten Graduation.  Benson was wondering why they don't have 2nd grade graduation after seeing the bag of goodies she got from her teacher along with the certificate.  Life's never quite fair, is it?!

Making marshmallow towers at school.  Mabel ate more than she created but that's simply what 3-year olds are build to do!

Playing in the waiting room before a dr.'s visit.  And playing on the playground before they all got to see the dentist.  They're still begging to go back to this playground with the turny-circle!  They were on that toy nearly their entire hour we were there…and still couldn't get enough of it!  Classic mark of childhood right there.
