Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

December fun

So it's been a while!  But it's also busy season…right?!!  Thanksgiving, Christmas presents, entertaining family, being entertained by family, packing, traveling, shopping, wrapping, etc. etc. etc.!  So that's pretty much what we've been up to.  It's a fun time to be busy!  We've had lots of fun family members to be busy with…cousins, grandma's and grandpa's, aunts and uncles are just the best!  We've seen Santa and Mrs. Clause a time or two and even sat on the reindeer's lap at the mall.  We went to the Denver Zoo a few weekends ago and loved seeing all the beautiful lights all around!  It was c-c-c-cold…but those hand warmer things really make a big difference for the whole body!  We came to Utah last weekend and enjoyed "Christmas" with family.  Loved being with everyone!  We went up to Logan area to the Hardware Ranch and went on a 'sleigh/wagon' ride to see lots of wild elk.  It was super cool to be so close to so many wild elk all around.  The elk are so used to the horse-drawn wagons, they just hang out and carry on with eating.  More on the next post about Claire's 4-year transplant anniversary!

Guess I'm a little slow at getting in to my computer fun! What a delightful time I have had this morning going through all the blogs and fun times you have had this winter. I am so blessed to have the beautiful sharing time with such loving children, grandchildren, gg-grandchildren, etc. I'm grateful for the many blessings that come to each of us through a kind and loving Heavenly Father. We are so blessed to know and love Him and be able to turn for peace and comfort in times of trial. Keep on having fun times, my heart and love is with you always!!! Grandma
