Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

time away

Jared and I had a little get-away last week.  We went where it's warm.  We flew to Arizona.  It was so grand!  Grandma Susan and Uncle Ben got to stay home with the kiddos and they had a great time!  Jared has recovered so well from his fall.  What a blessing.  We were able to enjoy it all!  We enjoyed hiking Camel Back Mountain...

…going to a dinner theater play on Valentines to see Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.  I was spoiled for my birthday!  I got to go with my hubby on a fancy date.  The dinner was delicious, they gave roses and chocolates to all the women, we had a great couple at our table to enjoy talking with, and the play was fantastic!  It just makes me smile to watch live theater :)

…golfing every day we were there.   We both really enjoy doing this together.  Jared is good.  I can hit the ball and get a par ever now and then, with lots of bogey's, doubles & triples in-between:)…but it's just fun!  Nice way to enjoy the sun and enjoy being together.  One of favorite parts about this was all the great "older" couples we got paired with.  They were so great!  We enjoyed chatting and golfing with such great people!

…and we enjoyed going to the Gilbert, AZ LDS Temple open house.  This is such a beautiful temple!  It was open to the public to walk though and it is absolutely stunning both inside and out!!

We had such a great get-away!  It was nice to be where it's warm, to be with the one I love, and to enjoy being together.  Probably should make a habit of it, eh?!!?
