Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

February is HERE!

Well.  Still pregnant.  January is over.  That means the baby can come any time.  Any time now would be just fine with me!  We've had a good month, though.  We are all be blessed with incredibly good health.  I don't know what the "sick" season has been like where you're at, but it's been awful here!  So much yucky sickness going around…with just about every symptom imaginable.  I truly feel we have been blessed to stay healthy through it all and am so grateful for that.

Claire continues to do her monthly blood work and everything is stable and well for her.  That's always a relief.  Benson also has had a few tests lately and it turns out he has high protein in his urine and his blood pressure is higher than it has been / should be.  So we've started him on a medication that will hopefully help with both those problems.  We'll keep an eye on things and hope both those issues will improve over time.

Really not much else going on here lately.  I'm pretty uncomfortable--not sleeping well, moving well, bending well, my back hurts, and I have an awful pain in the top right side of my abdomen.  It gets to the point where you're just DONE being pregnant.  And I'm there.  But it won't be long now.  I'm 38 weeks today and all my babies have come some time during the 38th week.  Let's hope this sweet princess follows suit!!

Claire and Mabel got the carseat and stroller all tested out with Baby Kate inside.  Baby Kate was my baby when I was a little girl…and they love/care for her just as much as I did!  Love it.

My good friend gave me a baby shower a few weeks ago and Mabel's favorite part was the ballon bouquet I brought home!

I am reading this now and am so glad that you are no longer pregnant! Holding the baby on the outside is so much more fun. I want to see lots of pictures of the new little angel. They grow up way too fast. I pray that you can all continue to stay heathy and well with the new baby around.

It sounds like from the comment above that congratulations are in order. Glad things are going well for you guys. It seems like we just cannot get over a sickness here before the next one hits us.
