Merry Christmas 2014! It was a perfect Christmas day. Santa brought all the kids new bikes and the weather was even sunny/warm enough for them to try them out! I was most excited to eat the yummy orange rolls I had prepared the day before…and boy were they delicious! I think the most used, most remembered gifts from this year, besides their new bikes which will be more enjoyed when the warmer weather comes, is the hopper balls. Benson has a large, blue exercise ball he hopes around on ALL the time, so we decided to get the girls one of their own, with the handles. They are all 3 now on their hopper balls ALL the TIME! They are constantly doing circles around the house, watching TV while bouncing on their balls, and would eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner on them if we'd let them! Definitely a good choice for these active kiddos! We all also had fun painting some wooden nutcrackers a few days after Christmas. Claire said she's already putting a wooden nutcracker on her list for Santa to bring her next year because she loved doing it so much! It was super fun to each decorate our own and now have that fun memory reminder to see each new holiday season. And as you'll see at the end of the post, proof that I really am pregnant :) I feel huge. My back hurts. I don't sleep well past 4 a.m. And am getting more and more anxious for the next month to fly by (as I'm sure it will).
Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.
