Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

It's December…and the rest of the year!

Okay.  So we are still alive.  We are still here.  And everyone is actually doing quite well!!  There's plenty of excuses as to why I haven't posted for the last half of the year…most important which is the kicking, hiccuping, punching little human being growing within my womb!  I had a rough 4 months with the beginning of this pregnancy.  Throwing up was worse than it had ever been; extreme fatigue (probably cuz there's 3 other little people on the outside of the womb to take care of); nausea ALL the time; and just a general lack of motivation to do anything that wasn't absolutely necessary for our survival!!   So there we have the first 20+ weeks of pregnancy.  And now here I am, 32 weeks along…feeling great overall but now just dealing with the uncomfortable results of a growing child.  BUT all is well!  We will be having another little girl, sometime in the first half of February and we are all very excited!  Benson was a bit bummed it wasn't a boy, but what do ya do.  We're happy and feel blessed to be adding another little one to the family!

So that's my main excuse.  Not to mention once you get out of the habit…it's easy to stop doing it and find other things to replace the time.  Am I giving up the blog?  NO!  I will be getting back in the habit and routine asap!  I've been working of family photo books that I like to give my family for Christmas and I realize as I've been putting those together that I depend SO much on my blog to remember what was going on…when it happened and why!  It may be fun and interesting for some of you to read, but it is also a great 'book of remembrance' for my family!  So I will be starting back up with regular updates.

And so I suppose for now, here's a few of the highlights from the past few months:  Enjoy the recap.

Claire was a "ferocious flower" in the Wizard of Oz play this summer.  Loved every second of it!

We went to Island Park and good ol' Faithful in July.

Having fun with cousins in Telluride, CO.

Mabel, the horse lover, got to ride a horse…and that's exactly what she wants for Christmas too.  A REAL live, big horse!

Benson got some great practice riding his motorcycle while camping in CO and in Moab, UT this fall.

First day of school.  3rd, 1st, and Preschool.  And yes, that is a cat-eared head band Mabel is wearing.

Beautiful children in front of the beautiful Denver LDS temple.

Claire's 7th Dolphin Bday party!

Benson's 9th sports birthday.

Happy Halloween!

Mabel's 4th horsey party

Everyone just as cute and crazy as usual :)

And Happy Thanksgiving!

I'll post Decembers happenings soon in a separate post.  It's good to be back!

Yay! I almost had to resort to calling you. :) I loved getting your card in the mail. I wish I was on top of things enough to send a Christmas card. I am excited about your baby. So fun!! So lame about being so sick though. That is NOT good. Glad you are all doing so well and get this blog back in business. I miss it.

Merry Christmas!!
