Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

Random...

...stuff

Summer is officially here!! Yeah for fun in the backyard pool!

TWO different people at the grocery store "ran" into our kids at the grocery store. Instead of being annoyed, they looked at our three kids, complimented them in every way, and told Jared and I how LUCKY we were. Sometimes it's hard to remember that when you're constantly on their case about not yelling in the store, staying in/by/around/remotely near the shopping cart, and "no" we can not get those!! Good reminder. Lucky us!

Mabel is officially a swaddle-free sleeper. A day Jared thought would never come!

Claire's liver and kidney numbers are great!! She's been on such a good-streak for a while now. Hope it lasts!! No blood work till the 20th. Weird. SO good!

I really wish I had a mud room.

Benson and Claire's favorite word is declared. They think it's hilarious! But Benson was disappointed to see there wasn't an i between the a and r.

Claire and Mabel and now officially roommates. For the rest of their childhood...or something close to that anyway. So fun to be sisters!

I'm reading a book. Doesn't really matter which one. The news here is simply that: I am reading a book! And I'm going to finish it. Even bigger news!

What an awesome report. Your kids are great. They are blessed to have two great parents that love them and teach them.

Keep up the good work.

No one said being a parent would be easy. But it is definitely worth it.
