Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

Saturday in MN

Today the kiddos got to do some fun things that we were planning on missing out on. It turned out to be an fun, eventful day for all! Claire and Benson were both invited to two different b-day parties and they happily celebrated with their friends. Then we went to a Trunk-or-Treat at the Church and the kids got a TON of candy. They were so excited to get in their costumes and see their little rabbit of a sister in hers!

Nice to see a big smile on that face, right?! She really does feel great, until she settles down enough to realize she itches!!
