Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

Happy Halloween from the Unicorn, Duck, and Ninja!

We've had a fun Halloween season.  On Saturday we went to a Halloween carnival and Trunk-or-Treat at our church.  The kids had tonz of fun getting their faces painted, playing lots of carnival games, and getting bucket loads of candy!!  This afternoon I got to go to Benson's school to help out with his Fall class party.   I enjoyed being with him and seeing him in a classroom setting.  We had fun making owl puppets...which turned out super cute!  After school we went to Pi Pizza.  Any kid dressed up in their Halloween costume received a free ghost pizza!  Yumm.  That's my kind of dinner!  And of course, this evening, the trick-or-treat fun began!  All three kiddos loved walking up to the house with a "trick or treat" soon to follow.  Mabel's Elmo bucket became her new best friend as she realized all the goods being placed therein!  Jared and I both went around with the kids tonight.  It was a joy to see the JOY in their eyes.  Now what to do with all the candy!  Ahhhh!  Too much candy!!  So fun for kids, though (and I enjoy my share of their loot too...for better or worse!)  What a great memory this halloween is.

Great costumes. What a fun time of year.

What do you do with all the candy. Eat it of course. Just one piece at a time though.

Great post.
