Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

celebration

We celebrated Jared's birthday on Monday.  Sweet and simple...just how he likes it!  It was nice for he and I to go out on a date in celebration.  Something we don't do often enough, but always enjoy when we get the chance!  The kids love the celebration more than anyone.  They also enjoy the frosting more than anyone too!

(Claire loves carrying baby Annie around in my baby sling.  She is such a good mommy to that baby!)

Claire watching TV wearing her afternoon creation.

Looks like it was a great day. And what a great day to celebrate--birthdays.

Got to love them.

Happy birthday to Jared, and Natalie, I just caught up on your blog. You guys have had so much going on. I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage and about the concussion. I'm glad you're okay now. Been thinking about your sweet family.
