Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

Thankful week

Happy Thanksgiving!! Happy Everything!!  We've been busy having a lot of happy times here.  Family has been here with us for the holiday and we've been busy swimming, shopping, & sewing (Christmas surprises...shhhh).  Last week we went to Wisconsin Dells to the Kalahari water resort and hotel.  Now that was fun.  It's kind of like LasVegas, water-park/kid style!!  The Kalahari was so perfect for what we wanted.  We swam every day, played laser tag, mini-golf, rode the Ferris wheel and merry-go-round (over and over and over again), went rock climbing, saw 2 movies on the big screen, walked a ropes-course, and sometimes stopped to eat and sleep.  So great!  Fabulous times with memories that will last!!

What a stud that boy in the blue shirt is.  He made it all the way to the top, of course.  I got about three-fourths the way up and I was surprised how nervous I was about being high up.  I've never really been scared of heights but maybe that's changing a bit in my old age :)

These girlies loved the swings and the carousel.  It was just their size...just their kind of fun!

On top of the Ferris wheel Mabel's sneaking a snack in as we sit for a few minutes after hours of busy fun!

It was tough to get a picture of Benson while in the water.  He was always off with Grandpa going down another slide!

Ya think he liked it?  Pretty much ever minute he loved...until it was time to stop.  It's hard to stop a good thing.  For all of us!  Vacations are fabulous cuz they're so exciting, so fun, so different from the norm.  Sad to stop the fun...but so grateful for the memories!!

We came home the night before Thanksgiving and enjoyed a wonderful day on thursday with a fabulous meal, delicious pie, and a fun movie in the afternoon.  We are truly blessed.
