Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

help momma!

Benson:  "Uh Mom, Mabel needs a little help down here."

{If Mabel could express what she was thinking}:  "Sure was a lot easier getting it in there than it is getting it out!"
{What she really said}:  "Help Momma.  I'm stuck!"

No worries.  Mabel went to bed with all body parts intact tonight.  :)

My Happy Mother's day picture from last Sunday.
I just love them.  So glad to have them.  So grateful to be their MOM!

And finally, a short, cute conversation I had with Claire the other day.
Claire:  "Mom, when's Benson coming home from school?"
Mom:  "About 45 minutes."
Claire:  "But Mom, I'm board.  And Benson is the fun one...
Wait....(thinking thinking thinking)
I AM FUN!
Come on Mabel.  Let's GO!"

Moral of the story that this smart 5-year old figured out and taught me:  Don't waste your time waiting around for someone else to help you enjoy life!  YOU are good!  YOU are the vehicle!  YOU are FUN!  Get out there and YOU start doing.  YOU start becoming. YOU be YOU!!  And grab a good friend to join you for the ride.  aka Mabel!  :)
