Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

update

Thoughts & Stuff:

*  Can't believe it's already April.  And the way this month is looking, it's going to be over before I know it.

*  Jared and I celebrated our TEN-YEAR wedding anniversary a few days ago.  Seriously.  How did that happen?  I can't believe it.  Time flies.  SO incredibly fast.  When I look at it that way…how fast it "feels" like it's gone by, it has flown right by.  But when I look at it in what has happened over the past 10 years, I'm pretty sure we've lived a lift-time, right?  Okay maybe not that long, but we've sure had quite a ride with an amazing amount of adventure and experience.  Couldn't ask for a better partner to have experienced it all with, though.  Jared and I are blessed not only to have amazing kids but to have each other.  He's the best.  Here's a collage of picts I put together from the last 5 years.   I created one of these for our 5 year anniversary of the first 5 years and now here's the last 5 years.  Fun to see our memories on print!

*  Claire has been doing well.  She feels great and hasn't had much medical intervention for a while…which has been a nice break for her.  She will do blood work tomorrow to see how things are looking and she will also still have a biopsy sometime within the next few weeks to see if the rejection in her kidney has been taken care of.

*  I went on a quick vacation to Utah this past weekend for a girls-trip with the adult girls on Jared's side of the family.  We had so much fun together doing plenty of girl things.  Let's see, we went shopping, talked about our kids, went shopping, talked (so kindly) about our husbands, went shopping, saw Divergent in the movie theater, went shopping, ate some delicious food, went shopping, and enjoyed yummy dessert.  Oh and we watched basketball which wasn't so girly, but there's some major March madness fans in Jared's family so we all obliged.  We needed a way to relax after all the shopping anyway.

*  We're all excited for the warm temperatures spring in Colorado has given us, but there's snow on the forecast for tomorrow, so it's still too early to call it "here."  The kids have loved having a trampoline, though.  They are out there every day that it's warm enough.  Their second favorite thing is gymnastics.  They have learned and progressed so much for the past two months and really enjoy it.  They do the bars, balance beam, trampoline, vault, and floor.

And I guess that's all for now!

Happy 10 years! It does go by fast doesn't it? Crazy.

Glad things are going ok and that you got to enjoy a fun girl's weekend. Sounds like you did some shopping. Did you get anything for YOU? It seems like I always end up with a bunch of stuff for my kids. :)
