Another one bites the dust…the tooth fairy dust, that is!! Claire lost her companion bottom tooth last week. She couldn't believe it!! She was so excited. She was also much more excited about the 2 sticks of gum in exchange from the tooth fairy than she was about the $1 last time. Guess we can figure she's not so motivated by money…and would rather just have the "goods" instead :)
Today we had a fun St. Patrick's Day. Or Leprechaun day as the kids kept calling it. They woke up to a scavenger hunt and loved finding the clues leading to the pot-o-treats at the end. We enjoyed green scrambled eggs & pancakes for breakfast with green jello for dessert tonight. We wrote a story about leprechauns at school colored some cute leprechauns & clovers too! One of the cutest things, though, was when Benson and Claire went outside after school and got together with a few other neighborhood kids to make a leprechaun trap. The one boy, 11 yrs old, told the younger ones stories about when he once caught a leprechaun with his own hands; but it was so small and so fast that he got away before he could get him in some tin foil. Because tin foil is a leprechaun's weakness, you know. Well I didn't know until today, but now I know. And that's why most of the tin foil I used to have in my drawer is now gone! The 5 neighborhood kids made a trap and sent it home with the 11-year old home to put in his room, because he's most likely the one to be able to catch another sneaky guy this year too. Can't wait to hear from him tomorrow after school. After dinner, Benson and Claire made some traps of their own. They realize that this is the only day that leprechauns come out. They're really hoping one will sneak into their room tonight to take the gold coin--then the pencil will fall and drop the tin-foil covered box right onto that leprechaun and he'll be caught for good! Oh boy. Oh BOY!! What is a parent to do?!?! Love those kids. Love LOVE their imaginations!! Happy Leprechaun Day 2014!
That little smile right there makes it all worth it, right?!!
