Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

Good bye Grandma Shirlene and Grandma Great!! We'll miss you! Thanks for playing, helping, singing, cooking, serving, cleaning, and LOVING!! Everyone had safe travels, in spite of the nice winter storm that decided to roll in today. Jared's family arrived and we're excited to have them!

Everything today with Clarie's labs are good. Like my hubby always says, no news is good news! We'll go to the hospital again in the morning for more labs and to meet with the doctor. We'll probably make a few stops to visit Gifty and our dialysis nurses too! Snowy, cold, good day today!

Benson's new favorite game: shooting the army guys down with rubber bands!
