Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

happy thankful day

Today is a very special day for me. Bet ya can't guess why????

It's my one year transplant birthday. And that is something to celebrate.

So we had a party. A tea party.

Babies were invited, of course.

And brother.

I got to choose the menu. My favorites: sweedish fish, chocolate ice cream, and candy canes.

Mom, Dad and Benson kept telling me congratulations. So I finally started telling them congratulations back. I thought we all deserved a little congrats...pat on the back...well done...one year down...we did it...look where we've been...look where we're going...kind of talk!!! We are all so thankful to have a reason to celebrate ME!

Can't wait for next years tea party!

What a wonderful thing to celebrate. I remember praying for your family last year at this time. Miracles have certainly come to your family. Thank you for your examples, and Merry Christmas.

Congratulations Claire. Congratulations to your family also. We couldn't be happier for you.

It has been a great year and it was gratifying to see how God works in our lives and how he blesses us. He has blessed all of us this year.
