Happy Birthday to ME!
What a great day we've had. I got to go to Benson's school this morning and help out with their Valentine Party. It brought back such great memories of my school valentine parties and delivering Valentines to school friends! I loved being there with him...and he thought it was pretty special too!
Later we went swimming at the Ramada Inn down the road!! We had the pool all to ourselves and it was perfect! Totally kid friendly, with a little pool just for the kiddos with a water slide and fountains, a bigger pool with b-ball hoops, and a hot tub! Everyone enjoyed every minute of it...even Mabel. We intended on getting her into the pool with us, but she thought it'd be more fun to sleep in the car seat the whole time. So we let her do that instead. Benson and Claire had a blast, of course!
It was such a great day with a banana cream pie for dessert and thoughtful presents to top it all off! Benson and Claire cut out and colored hearts and flowers for me...and then they each went in their room and picked out something from their room they wanted to give to me. Claire picked out a beanie-baby lady bug and Benson pick a Dove chocolate he's been saving since Christmas. So sweet. I totally got spoiled this year with a MacBook Pro from my hubby! Wow. He must really REALLY love me!!! Can't wait to get it up and running!
Hooray for being born!
Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.
