At 5 a.m. this morning Claire woke up crying and telling us she was thirsty and that her head was "wobbly." What? A wobbly head means dizzy for a 3 year old. Why in the world was she dizzy???? It ended up being a scary morning for us because we couldn't figure out what was wrong and she couldn't go back to sleep without waking up 20 minutes later crying about her head. She said she just wanted to stay awake "forever." Something was certainly wrong. We called the doctor at 7 and they wanted to check labs and see her later that day. After she finally fell asleep for a decent amount of time on the couch, I decided that if she didn't feel better after she woke up, I was going to take her into the ER and not wait for her dr. apt. Gratefully, she did start feeling better after she woke up at about 9:00 and I felt comfortable waiting. As the hour progressed she was pretty much back to normal--running around and wasn't complaining of any "wobbliness" at all.
You know somethings up when the 3 year old herself tells you to go call the doctor, wants to know which doctor you talked to and what they said.
Luckily, everything with her labs turned out perfect and Claire is feeling fine now. None us have any explanation of what that was all about. A bad dream....like really really REALLY bad dream??? I doubt it. Weird. Just glad everything is okay.
No more wobble heads around here, please!!!
Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

Glad it was just a fluke. My kids get some random crazy stuff that just comes suddenly and then goes. Like Harrison gets these awful stomach aches where he cries for an hour and a half and then he suddenly stops. I know with Claire's history these things are much more concerning, but it sounds like it was a more typical childhood type thing. Take care!
Glad to hear that Claire got through it.
Also glad to know I am not the only one with a woobly head.
Keep up the good work. You are doing the right thing.
Seriously. How spooky. I would have been in a panic. You are so good at handling things. Hope things stay normal!
