Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

My favorite line from today:

...in a whiny, I'm telling on you voice Claire said...

"Mom, Mabel's eating herself again."


And note to self: If it smells like something is burning in the oven, that usually means it IS!!

Good thing I don't like the crust of the bread anyway.

Claire is going to be the best older sister that Mabel is going to have. She is going to make sure that Mabel does it just right.

One thing about Natalie not likeing to eat the crust, she shouldn't get after her kids for not eating the crust. Even if it isn't burnt.
