Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

summer begins

One thing I really love about my kids is that they love to play together.  If they're together somewhere...they're playing together...not each alone, or 2 here and 1 there.  They really love being together...and this picture I took at the park the other day exemplifies just that!!

Never thought the last day of school {for a mom} would almost be as sad, somber, & reflective as the first day of school!!  Not sad in the "oh no it's summer...what am I going to do with all 3 kiddos every hour of every day for the next 3 months" kind of way.  Sad in the "I can't believe how quickly this year has gone by!  I can't believe Benson is done with 1st grade" kind of way.  Time flies.  Enjoy each moment.  Enjoy the smiles & laughter.  Take breaths through the crying, whining, yelling, & fighting.  Get over it.  & Delight in goodness of being a Mom.

So excited for summer!  So glad to have Benson home all....The....TIME!!

What a great picture of the kids together.

What a neat experience to see them bond with each other. That caring will go with them throughout their lives.
