Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

Well I thought I was getting better! Today I feel worse than I have all week!! We've just got to be done with this cold/cough!! Benson is feeling well (still coughing) but Claire was very hoarse today. It was kind of cute and sad to hear her voice so crackly! She still acts fine, though, and hasn't had a fever....so that's good. Jared is miserable and I'm trying hard not to feel that way too. Oh well. This too shall pass.

We don't know about Claire's labs for today yet. Looking forward to a semi-relaxing, HEALING weekend!

We've had a cold going through all of us for over a week as well- yuck! Hope you guys get a lot of rest this weekend!
