Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

trouble

We're in trouble. Mabel can now officially open her OWN fruit snack packages. And if she can open that, let's just imagine what else she can get in to! She can also unlock my phone AND take a picture of herself! Proof shown below. She's thisssssss close to opening doors by herself on the highest tippie toes she can elevate. She thinks the laundry soap is a sand box for her sneaky enjoyment. She loves to get into the cereal drawer, take the bag out of box and sit pleasantly on her couch with a little, big snack.

We just love every minute with this curious, intelligent, ever learning and advancing Princess!

She is growing up too fast. Glad she is well and happy and curious.
