I don't know what to think of Claire! Today was much much better than yesterday. Not completely well, but much better. We're kind of thinking she's been having a hard time digesting her food the past few days. So today we fed her a little bit differently--we gave her all her milk during the day and all the pedialyte during the night. She definitely slept much better last night but we also decreased the amount we've given her temporarily and will have to get back up to her normal amount again. We're going to meet with the dietitian on Wednesday to see if she has any suggestions. I think some of the problem is that her tummy/gut NEVER gets a break! She's fed every hour, 24 hours a day. And A LOT every hour too. She has to be on a high fluid diet to help keep the kidney clean as it continues to clear the oxalate from her body. It just seems like her tummy is finally saying enough is enough....give me a little break!!
We'll have to see what ideas the doctors and dietitian have next week. But she's been feeling and acting better today so we'll take it!
We took Benson and Claire to the movies today. They have free movies Saturday morning at one of the theaters here and Benson was (again) bouncing up and down with excitement! They both had so much fun and were thrilled to see a movie on the big screen!
Jared got me the best birthday present. It starts with a Ping and ends with a Pong!! We've played every night since we've been home from the hospital and I LOVE IT!! There aren't very many sports I can beat Jared in. In fact there's probably only one and it's ping pong! It's so fun!! We're loving it! We gotta have a ping pong tournament with some friends sometime soon. Any takers?!?
Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

Fun gift! I wish I could take you up on your offer, but I am afraid I would be no competition for you. My skills are on the beginner level (and that is really stretching it!) (and I live kinda far away.) It is nice to have fun things to do together as a family. Keep on winning. :)
Glad Claire is feeling better. I agree, her belly is probably needing a break. That is a lot of work for the little stomach to handle.
Happy Sunday!
You're on!
hi iam not sure how long it is since her transplant . my son got 3 litres a day with fluid and we gave him through the blood and through the nasal tube . about7 months after first transplant he was home during days and at hospital during the night . he got about 1,5 litres with fluid in blood and the rest as meals in the nasal tube .iI started out early with making it into meals so his stomach had to leardn to feel hunger if you understand what I mean . at last about 2 years after the transplant we were able to give him 2,5 litres in the nasal tube and we still did this as meals . so I willsuggest you try that . It worked for him 17 years ago. asthrid
I will totally take you up on the ping pong tournament! (I always beat Jacob, too!) That's the only "sport" I can do at all. I'm terrible at everything else!
I am not the greatest at ping pong. However, it is rather fun. I hope you have some great matches.
