Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

Friday

Wow. It's been a busy week! We've had....blood work, basketball, ballet and blue and gold banquet (scouts)....enrichment meeting at Church where we were lucky enough to be enriched by my good hubby, a valentines party for the kids, Claire's preschool group at our house, sugar cooking-making fun, and home school co-op at kingdom kids. This week has cruised on by!

The kids loved giving (and receiving) valentines from their friends at the party on Thursday!

Claire also found out that she looooooves the taste of conversation hearts! Yum. Sugar.

Blood work for Claire looks a lot like it did last week. Liver numbers are still up. The numbers might be elevated from "messing" with the liver in stretching the bile duct, but the doctor wants to do a liver biopsy at her next dilating procedure in March just to make sure there isn't anything else going on.

Mabel tries to use her finger as a fork/toothpick to stab whatever kind of food she's eating. She refuses to eat some foods that she can't get to stay on her finger! It's hilarious.

How could you not love waking up to see this princess?!? Rough night, eh?

I think she looks beautiful. Mabel is as cute as any little girl can be.
