Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

splits

Mabel found out a new trick. It's called the splits. Don't know how she came up with such a thing, but yesterday she couldn't stop! Also a new happening around here...the girls had their first stroller fight! Oh boy. I see the future unfolding before my very eyes...and it all begins with a stroller. Good thing we have two strollers. Too bad they're not identical!

She can even hold Nephi while she splits! Now that's talent! Benson read his talk in primary at Church yesterday all by himself...hence the picture of Nephi laying around the house. His trusty assistant, Claire, held up the pictures of Nephi, the boat, and the brass plates. She couldn't have been happier to be holding up the pictures for him and switch to the news ones when she heard the key words!! They were quite the pair...and did it perfectly! They were both so proud of themselves...as they well should be! Too cute.
