Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

monday

The tears have been shed...Grandma and Grandpa boarded and airplane and headed west. Benson was so sad tonight at bed time. He's pretty sensitive to those loving grandparents and loves remembering all the fun he was when they were here. Sad to say goodbye....so thankful for their help! And now back home to the mess!

So the story on the kitchen is that we are still renting this home; the owners are paying for remodel...and we get the benefit of enjoying the update! And it's coming right along. I'm quite impressed how quickly things came together over the weekend. The counter tops and on now and we have a working sink again! Still a few more cabinets to hang, trim to put up, shelves, handles, doors, a little of this and lot of that....but it's coming! I'll post another picture of the finished product this week.

It is always difficult when family, grandparents come and then they have to leave.

Thank heavens for email and telephones.
