Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

lines to remember

A few random lines:

* In Claire's prayer the other night she said, "We're thankful that we could have a babysitter tonight and that she didn't sit on us the whole entire night."  So does that mean the baby sitter only sat on them half the entire night?  Next phrase: "Please help me to know if looking at books in my bed with the flash light on is the right thing to do before bed."  How sweet is her little heart?

* A 3 year old little boy was over here this afternoon.  After Mabel finished her lunch she got down and was playing with this little boy and he suddenly started staring at her....looking at her with such intensity and wonder.  Then he looked over at me and said, "Mabel can talk?!!"  Oh yes.  She is a talker.  She says whatever she needs to say and there's no questions to wonder about!  Love it.  Love our little two-year old talker!

I love having kids around. They are so honest and clever and funny! It is good to write things down so you can remember them.

Kids say the funniest things. That is one of the reasons we love them so much.
