Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

{Break}

{Spring Break}

Could also be termed winter break in Minnesota--but the important word here is BREAK!

And for our break, we enjoyed some time with friends at this place.

Beautiful. Right. Relaxing. Right.  Fun. RIGHT!!

We enjoyed time around the fire place, playing games & keeping cozy.

Then we played the "how many kids can you fit on a sled" game!

Answer:  All of them {minus the 3-month-old baby}

With everyone squeezed in tight we were ready for a sled full of smiles!

And like the energizer bunny...we kept going and going and going with just about every combination possible!

And since we weren't able to swim in the lake for our spring break, we decided to walk on it instead!

Claire wasn't very sure about the idea.  She was cautious, concerned, and wanted to go back!

But the others enjoyed some slipping and sliding and smiling along the "frozen waves!"

We tried to convince her that with ice like this...we weren't anywhere...other than flat on our bums as Benson so gracefully exhibited!!

The frozen {wave}.

As would be fitting for our {winter} break--it snowed.  And even thought it's April, it was a beautiful snow with some of the largest flakes I've seen!

We enjoyed yummy food, snacks galore, fabulous company, late-night movies, relaxing on the couch, kids crafts, and a fantastic {BREAK}!!!
