Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

American Idol in training

She's got the jumps, she's got the twists, she's got the smile,
and she definitely has the audience to cheer her on!!!

So Cute!!! Ella had that same microphone...but alas, it has gone the way of many "musical" toys in our home :)! She looks great and we enjoyed her show!

It is really great to see Claire enjoying her life as a little girl.

Diana says she has been watching way to much American Idle.

But we certainly enjoyed her performance.

Hey, you don't know me, I was a friend of Jared's from his pest control days. I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to post and how even total strangers like me draw comfort from the love and faith you put into Claire's care. We may not know each other, but I keep your little family in my prayers and hope that someday this will all just be a vague memory for her. Preferably someday SOON.

Love,
Catherine
