Benson and Claire decided to have a pajama party this afternoon. They got a package from their grandparents with brand new pj's in it and they just couldn't wait for bed time! Benson came up with the rules: you had to have your pajamas on to be on the love sac (they were serious about it too and even made me change), we had to watch Thomas the Train since those were the pj's Benson got, popcorn was next on the list, followed by a vanilla-banana shake (Claire even drank a couple swallows and said Nummie.....with a ebber-ka-geeber body shake shortly after), and to top it all off, a game of Go Fish. I'm so glad I have a creative little 4-year old, a go-along-with-whatever-he-says 2-year old, and a nice afternoon to relax a bit with my kiddos! Thanks for the fun package Grandma and Grandpa!
Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.
