Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

Mom's WEEK

Happy Mother's Day! I think it should be Mom's week, though. Yesterday after dinner I said, "sweet, good thing it's Mother's Day and I don't have to do the dishes tonight." And it worked like a charm! I tried to use the same line tonight..."good thing it's the day-after-Mother's Day and I don't have to..." and I got nothing but a sink full of them! Oh well. Good thing my husband really is very helpful every night!

I did enjoy a few extra pieces of chocolate yesterday and mostly just enjoyed loving my kiddos! Benson had a little nugget of chocolate to give me after church, but when he saw the Sinckers Candy Bar I was carrying, he said very sweetly, "here Mommy, this nugget is for you...but can we trade?!?" Claire gave her first talk in church and she and Benson also sang songs during sacrament meeting. That's enough to melt a mom's heart right there! So blessed to be a MOM and have such an amazing hubby and kids to make it all complete.

And it is sooooooo neat to have such a wonderful daughter, son in law and three wonderful grandchildren to share life with.

Natalie, how are you? I just caught up. I sure miss your sweet family. The kids are getting so grown up and I can't believe Benson lost a tooth! My parents are moving from Colorado in the next few months, and I was thinking about all of the things I will miss. Even though you don't live there anymore, I completely and entirely associate your family with CO. You guys have taught my family so much about faith, endurance, and true conversion to Jesus Christ. We love you and we still think about you often. Lots of love.
