Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

more strawberries please

We went to a party this afternoon and had a great time with friends and ate delicious food. Claire was having so much fun playing with friends that she didn't take much time to eat...not a big surprise. Of course when it was time to go, that's when she told us she was hungry and wanted something to eat. So we grabbed her a strawberry and told her she could eat it in the car and she could have something else when we got home. Our only instruction was that she shouldn't eat the green leaves on the strawberry. And so she didn't!

Have you ever eaten THAT much of a strawberry?!?! I haven't. She was hungry...and she likes strawberries!

wow. this is 3 posts in 3 days. That might be a record as of late!
