Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

update

Our attempt at an Easter Family photo

I've kind of been a slacker on this whole blog thing lately. Life is BUSY! Time is valuable. Moments without kiddos must be spent wisely!!

Everyone is feeling much better these days except for the never-ending cough, but we can handle that. Jared's mom was out here for the week and we had a great time! The kiddos always love the extra attention they get from Grandparents and I love the extra set of hands!

Mabel is the best. like Really. I just can't believe how much I LOVE having a baby again! Especially THIS one! I'm with her all the time, every day....and I still can't get enough of her!!

Grandma Susan had the game Angry Birds on her phone and Benson was introduced to a whole new world! He LOVED playing it. ((Really really LOVED playing it...and yes, so did Jared and I)) But because we are the mean-ol'parents, we DO limit his "electronic" use every day. So he came up with his own version of angry birds. I thought it was fabulous. See what kind of creativity can happen when they're not stuck in front of a screen! If only electronics weren't so fun and addicting!!!

Level 3...New creation with every level we passed off!

I love the family picture! I can't help but giggle a little at Claire & Benson looking at each other out of the corner of their eyes! Too cute!
