I've had some Christmas adrenalin going on the past few days. All the sudden, I've just wanted to get everything done, everything clean, everything mailed, everything organized!! And it's actually been quite a success! I seriously think I've gotten more done the past two days than I have in the past few weeks!! It makes me so much more excited for Christmas to have things in order, prepared, and cleaned out for the big day!
And speaking of the big day, I'm also pretty convinced that Christmas really should be about STUFF!! I know that's what they always tell you....but it still really is....but it really doesn't have to be. Seriously--while I was cleaning out the kids toys in the basement with Benson this afternoon, we put in a big black garbage bag at least half of the toys they got last year for Christmas that they don't play with anymore. What a waste!! And Benson and Claire were completely okay with putting it in the bag to be stored in the garage. If they miss a toy or want 'something' back, we can go get it. Then after a few months go by and they get what they've missed or realized they never really wanted it in the first place, we'll send it to someone who does!! NOW I just need to figure out how to get my children to ask Santa for something other than the flashy toys they see in the store/ads. Cuz Santa's still gotta come....and I'm not being a scrooge and only giving them books, boots and an orange....but we (them and us) just gotta get rid of the need we think we have for stuff!! Don't get me wrong....I'll still be giving and receiving plenty of presents this Christmas and each one here after....just with wisely choosen gifts and not just a bunch of stuff! The recycle bin, paper, pens, and tape are LITERALLY more used by my kids than ANY TOY they possess, other than Baby Annie. Gotta love it!
Poor Claire just still isn't her same happy self lately. Since Monday, she's been complaining of her tummy hurting. She's "thrown-up" (even though she can't really throw up) a few times but I really don't know if it's a tummy virus she has or if it's a reaction to her antibiotic. One of the side affects is nausea, so I really am thinking that's what it is. I just wish she would feel 100% well again. She napped for 2 hours this morning, which is a BIG sign of Claire not feeling herself. Tomorrow she'll do blood work and a follow-up ultrasound of her kidney.
I wish it would snow! We had RAIN nearly all day today...I thought Minnesota was supposed to be cold!!
Jared and I finished reading Michael Vey Prisoner of Cell 25 last night. Great book!
Can't wait for the kids and Jared to open the presents I've been working on them for Christmas! I just finished it today...thanks to my magical Christmas power!

Christmas is a lot of things especially for small children. It doesn't get much better with age. It is still a busy time of year.
We are looking forward to spending time with your family during Christmas.
I am pretty sure Christmas morning is the best thing in the world for a kid. So I always compromise. They get just the right amount of stuff to feel special, but not so much to feel spoiled. :)
Great job getting things done. I am sick as a dog right now and can't even pick up my socks and put them on. It is driving me crazy to not get all my list checked off! Good thing there really are more days until Christmas than Libby's official countdown chain shows...or I would be in trouble.
Natalie,
I just got thinking about your family tonight and wondering what you are up to. I am so glad you have this blog. It's nice to be able to check in. Your kids are so adorable all of them. Claire is getting so big! She is beautiful. I am sorry to hear about Mabel. Ouch! Who would think the toaster oven could do such a burn? Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!
