Back for more labs and a urine culture on Friday to make sure her UTI is all gone. We're keeping our fingers crossed that it will be the last hospital visit for a while!
Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

Wednesday
Claire's liver numbers jumped up pretty high on Monday when we did blood work, so on Tuesday she did an ultrasound and we visited with her liver doctor. She has been on 2 antibiotics since her drain line has been capped off, but one of those antibiotics ended on Sunday and the other one ends tomorrow. Claire's doctor is worried that she might get an infection with the drain line capped off now that her antibiotics are ending....especially with elevated liver numbers...which might be telling us that the liver is already irritated by something! So the bile bag is going back on tonight. It's Christmas and we really don't want to be spending our day or week in the hospital with an infection doing daily IV antibiotics. It's just not our idea of the a happy holiday....if we can help it!! So to be on the safe side, the bag is back on and we're hoping to avoid an infection...and really avoid the hospital in general if we can help it! Claire's totally fine with the idea. She's just excited for Christmas, Santa, Grandpa, Grandma, and Aunt Hoffer! I'm quite excited as well!! We had so much fun decoration gingerbread houses last night. Lots of mess on the floor meant a TON of fun on the table! And speaking of Santa--We have been to the mall 3 different times for the kids to visit with him and he has been gone every single time!! He must be one busy man this year or we just have really bad timing!

Claire is a trooper. She certainly has been good this year and hopefully she gets an opportunity to tell Santa Clause just how goods she has been this year.
We are just as excited to get to Minnisota and enjoy the holidays with family.
