Busy week ahead. Blood work Monday. Occupation therapy (for eating) Tuesday. Jared's B-day Wednesday. Kidney biopsy all day long Thursday. Dr. apt for Claire and one for myself Friday.
Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

Happy Halloween
Last Halloween we were at the hospital to get Claire a pretty pink leg cast. This Halloween was much better! I'm sure this is probably Claire's least favorite holiday. She's not a fan of seeing people dressed up in costumes...especially scary ones. But she got a bit more used to it as the weekend progressed. And she's actually enjoying quite a variety of candy: smarties, tootsie rolls, suckers, candy corns, some chocolate bars, and swedish fish are her favorite! And Benson just likes them all!! We had fun 'trunk or treating' at our church Saturday afternoon and Jared took them out later that night for more fun. The kids enjoyed giving out the candy tonight as well. Yeah for Halloween! Now on to November. Baby month!!
