Well, we survived another long day at the hospital for Claire's biopsy. Things went smoothly overall. Waited here and there for this and that, but nothing abnormal for a hospital. Claire and I are always happy to have Benson and Jared join us in the afternoon until we were finally able to go home about 6:30 tonight. I don't know any results yet but we're meeting with the doctor tomorrow afternoon and should have some info then. For now, just happy to be done with it and home for a good night's rest.
Everyone who meets Claire is always so impressed with her hospital manners and jargon. She observes what everyone does, asks tons of questions, and doesn't let anything get past her that's unusual. After she woke up from the anesthesia, she asked the nurse, "are you going to call for an escort now to take me back to my room?" The nurse was blown away that she knew what came next and how it happened! She's a sharp little one.
Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

All I can say is--that baby Annie is one special little doll. Baby Annie has one special little girl taking care of her. And Claire has one special little Mommy taking care of her. And I am one special little man......
