Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

saturday quiet

It's nice to have a little quiet time. It helps me enjoy the "noise" better.

Jared went to go pick up his mom from the airport this evening in Minneapolis and took both the kids with him. I stayed for a number of reasons: a) I didn't want to have the baby in the car. Not that I would go into labor during the 4ish hours they've been gone, but if I did, that wouldn't be good. b) I had some things I wanted to get done (surprise surprise) that are much easier to do without kiddos. c) At this point in the pregnancy, sitting in one position for longer than.....oh eight minutes or so just isn't that comfortable. And so it's been a nice, quiet Saturday night. I expect them home any minute and am actually now kind of anxious for their arrival. I'm glad baby waited for Grandma Skinner to come before it "kicks out." It will be nice knowing there will be someone here day or night to take care of the kids when L & D time comes.

And seriously, what was I thinking....why would this baby follow the pattern Benson and Claire set in coming in the 38th week. This pregnancy has been so different....different in every way from both of theirs....so why would it decide to come the same time they did when nothing else has been the same?!?!? I changed my mind and decided I should just expect a Thanksgiving baby-one day past it's due date! Plus, we have to give Jared some time to get over the cold he ended up getting. The kids are both over theirs, and I luckily have stayed healthy...but he needs another day or two to get rid of those sniffles. Tis the season.

Still dilated to a 2. 80% effaced as of Thursday. Contractions, yes. But nothing significant, progressive, or consistent. Still starving, all the time, which means he/she still must be growing!! Can't wait to say "hi."

My eight minutes is up. Gotta go!

Glad you got some quiet time. :) Love that! Oh, I am so excited to see if your babe is a boy or a girl. So exciting. Hope Jared's mom plans on staying for awhile. You are gonna need some extra hands around.
