Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

IT'S A GIRL!!!

We ended up going back to the hospital at midnight last night and Natalie was dilated to a 6 at that point. It was slow progress until about 4:45ish when they decided to break the water and start PIT. The baby was born at 6:43. She weighed in at 6 lbs 12 ounces and 20 inches long. Our biggest baby yet.

Natalie and baby Skinner are both doing well. If everything goes as planned everyone should be released on Wednesday. Hopefully the baby will have a name by then.

Darn - I had a message all written and was getting ready to close and lost it. Don't know why it's so hard to remember what I wrote the first time but never seem to be able to duplicate it. Anyhow - AWESOME was my first reaction! I'm way EXCITED to meet number 38 great grandchild!! And really excited for Claire to have a little sister! From one who knows - there's nothing sweeter than a sister's love as you grow together!! Like a plaque I have here in my home; "Having a sister is like having a best friend around your whole life". Can't wait for the pic's to start coming and then to have you all in my arms again!! Natalie - take advantage of every minute's rest you can - it will end all too soon!
Love and prayers to ALL!

I am soooooo excited. I am soooooo glad I got to talk to you also. We need to do that more often. :) Hope baby girl is treating you well and you are getting some sleep. Glad I got to 'be with you' for the labor. I am a little bit jealous of myself right now for getting to be with you and the baby. Hugs and Kisses!
