Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

picts

We had this for dinner the other night. Octo-dog. Benson and Claire were thrilled! The directions said to boil the hot dog, so the legs would be all curly...but it would have tasted a lot better with the hot dog grilled. Benson has wanted it every night since.

The kids have loved being outside lately! Too bad there's snow in the forecast for the weekend!

Claire got some of these. Now we just need to get her to wear them more often.

Super cute glasses Claire. I am going to have to try the octo-dog sometime for the kid that is.
