I got to go on date tonight with the birthday boy! Happy Birthday Jared!
I made a birthday cake for Jared and put some extra batter into a smaller tin for Benson to decorate his own cake. Here's what he came up with.
No, Jared isn't turning 24. It was Benson's idea to make it his and Claire's cake. The 2 was for Claire and the 4 was for him! They each got to blow out their number candle and then helped daddy blow out his BIG number candle too!
I had a chance to talk with our main Kidney doctor today more about Claire and her legs. She confirmed that Claire's bones are definitely much more fragile because of kidney failure and the oxalate deposits, so she's really not at all surprised this happened. It simply stinks that it happened when it did. That's all there is to it. She also said that because of all the deposits in her bones, it will take her broken bones longer to heal than it would a regular 2-year old bone. The Orthopedic doctor will decide how long the casts need to stay on. We will meet with him on Friday.
She also confirmed that the broken legs would not stop Claire from proceeding forward to transplant if the organs became available. And on that note, she told me that this last Thursday they had an offer for a kidney and liver transplant for Claire. They thought seriously about accepting the organs and proceeding with transplant; but there was one thing from the donated organs that didn't quite match up with Claire's body. So after careful consideration, they decided it was too risky and wanted to wait for a match that Claire's body would more likely accept. SO transplant really could come ANY TIME!! Our doctor said Claire must be right at the top of the list--that's two offers now in the past 50 days, which from what I'm gathering is pretty good. Guess I better get my mind ready again for that surprise transplant call. We've been so distracted this past month with heart surgery and broken legs that I've kind of gotten out the transplant mind set. I'm just so grateful Claire has recovered so remarkably well from all that's gone on this past month. I feel good about proceeding to transplant if and when the organs are right! Better get our bags packed again.
More items are still being added to online auction! Check it out!

First off I want to say the reason that I clicked on this is because I realized that I know Jared...we sold pest control together in Ft Lauderdale in 2000. I saw your face and I was said, "That is Skinner!" Your family is beautiful. And your wife has to be absolutely amazing...a saint.
We would love to lend support anyway that we can. At this point in time the best thing we can do is to pray for ya'll. Your precious angels are being watched over by multitudes of angels I am sure, both in heaven and earth. Good luck with everything. I will keep a look out for updates.
