Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

Day 76

Just another great Sunday. Claire has a little runny nose, but hopefully nothing much will come of it. Besides that, we enjoyed our last day of the long holiday weekend together! Bring on another week!

Some fun news....placetobloom.blogspot.com has contacted us and wants to hold an online auction for Benson and Claire! If anyone wants to donate to their auction, email them at aplacetobloom {at} gmail {dot} com and they will post your item on their auction. All the proceeds will again go to Benson and Claire's COTA (children's organ transplant association) fund. The online silent auction will be held at Bloom from December 10th - 13th. They want to get all the auction items together by December 4, so no lally-gagging! THANKS BLOOM!

Hey Natalie. We had a lady in our ward today from the Rochester MI ward...is that your ward? Her name is Linda (I think) Scott. Also, she told us that a former member of our ward who moved to Michigan is in that same ward, the Perritons. Do you know any of them? What a small world.

I'm so glad for this auction! I read about the previous one and wanted to be a part of it, but it had already passed.

I've just caught up on your family's story... and you amaze me!
