Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

a few things to remember

* Claire prayed for her bile duct last night. I love that child's faith.

* Jared and I have been golfing 3 times! It is so great!! The last time he only beat me by 2 strokes. Benson went with us once to a par3 course and is really starting to get the hang of hitting! I love golf.

* Benson shared his bag of quarters with all his cousins last night after dinner and they all got a gold chain from the quarter machines. Benson kept saying over and over..."I just can't believe I got a real gold necklace." After not waiting to part with it through the night, he was a little disappointed to see his 25 cent investment had broken at one of the links. But he creatively fixed it right up and is proudly wearing it today!

* Claire slept in till NOON one day. Incredible. She must have really needed some catch-up snoozes. She was so proud of herself. She said the next night she might sleep till dinner! That didn't happen, but she has been sleeping till 10 most mornings...surprising, unusual and good for that little body of hers.

* Mabel can say Grandma now. "Bye Grandma" and "Hi Grandma" are among her favorite phrases.

* Jared and I visited BYU-Idaho, the University we graduated from. That is one amazing place. Things have changed a lot there with remodels and renovations. But the amazing spirit of the campus is still the same. I love that place. Jared and I both went to visit one of our favorite professors and they remembered us the moment we walked through the door. We so enjoyed talking with them. It felt like we had never left!! What a great place BYU-I is. I loved seeing the building where Jared and I met as we sat in statistics class! The beginning of a great adventure full of statically fun!

* Idaho is such a great place. The pace of life out in the country is a bit slower than other parts of the world--a nice switch for the mind and body.

Glad to hear that things are going so well.

Idaho is a remarkable place. And such a beautiful place with the rivers, mountains and yes the golf courses.
