Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

Jackson Hole

Here we are in the beautiful mountains of Jackson WY. It is so amazingly beautiful here. Time flies when you're having fun! We enjoyed a round of golf the first day and Benson was especially thrilled to have a chance to drive the golf cart. We also went to the literal tops of the mountains on a tram. That's an amazing sight to see. The cousins couldn't be happier spending time together...exploring, setting traps for squirrels, and having big sleepovers in the bunk bed room. On the 4th of July we went to the local parade. One float was throwing ears of corn to the crowd! We went down the Alpine slide down one of the ski mountains, road a boat across Jenny's Lake and hiked up to a beautiful waterfall. We've shopped, ate, played late night games, relaxed in the hot tub, and went to a traditional western show with all-you-can-eat dutch oven. The kids got to help steer the horses in our covered wagon ride and tomorrow they'll do a little horse-back riding themselves!! I guess the 24 hrs in the car is worth it with these kind of memories attached...with many more to come! So grateful for friends and neighbors watching our home in MN. Some pictures here....more to come, not yet transferred.
