Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

Swimming and Lagoon

Swim Party!! Hot day. Cool Pool. Yummy Picnic. Family Get Together. Fun!

Claire did a great job staying on the stair up until the last 3 minutes. As she was reaching for a toy, she lost her balance and fell right on into the pool. Oops. Good thing I had wrapped her stomach with saran wrap to keep it dry "just in case." Her bile tube stayed amazingly dry and she was quickly rescued with no harm done. Other than she was pretty shaken up and frightened. But it was overall a great time!

And then it was off to Lagoon the next day! As their slogan goes...it's what fun is! And we did have fun! Claire and Mabel's favorite ride was the whales. I love that Mabel has a little riding partner to encourage her along. Although she wasn't scared in the slightest to ride just about anything we put her in! That's Mabel for ya.

Benson's favorite was the ladybug drop!

I was just happy Mabel didn't try to climb out of the boat to splash in the water! She thought about it a few times. I could see it in her eyes and reaching hands!

Bumper cars are always a favorite.

Hold on tight Mabel! And she did the whole ride!

I don't know any kid who doesn't like riding the train!
