Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

West Yellowstone

Good ol' Faithful.

Family picnic. A coyote was hanging around our picnic area, just waiting for us to leave so he could clean up the scraps. Claire wasn't too thrilled with the idea. Benson had his plastic bow and arrow ready to fire if he got too close!!

The kids were so excited to see a buck up close at the stinky mud pots.

Mabel didn't seem to mind the smell at the mud volcano.

We hiked down to see the huge waterfall that went into the 'grand-canyon' of Yellowstone. So beautiful! It was worth the climb...although I wasn't the one carrying Claire and Mabel all the way up the mountain!!

Such a great trip...packed with lots of things to see, do and explore! What a beautiful area Jackson Hole and Yellowstone are. We loved every minute of it...and have all been blessed with good health and safe travels. That makes it all the more fun!!
