Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

Monday monday

Well I am officially feeling a bit better. My throat still hurts (pretty bad) and I am still coughing...but compared to what it's been like for the past 7 days...we're seeing some improvements here! You never realize how much saliva there is to swallow in a day till every swallow COUNTS as a mark of pure PAIN!! Hopefully it will ALL be resolved soon this week!

Unfortunately sweet Mabel has gotten at least part of what I've had. She has a runny nose and a little cough...but is still eating/drinking okay...so I'm hoping that means her throat is fine. She's still a sweet angel, even when she's sick. So far everyone else is good!

Here's some cute pictures I've been meaning to post. The kids love riding their bikes/scooters in the drive way and Mabel is just tall enough to peak over and be entertained by watching them go round and round. Every now and then she gets a personal visit from one or both of them. Here's Benson checking in to say Hi, give a kiss...

...and then a smack in the glass! Oh Benson. You are a BOY indeed!
