Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

fun in Utah

We'll Mabel, Benson, and I made it to Utah on an uneventful flight. Mabel did well--she was ready to be done, but hung in there patiently. I was exhausted...keeping her entertained for nearly 3 hours in a row! Benson is a good little helper and would be a frequent flyer if it was up to him!

Ryan and Shannon were married on Saturday. It was a fun, busy, long day...but I think that's pretty much how weddings are supposed to be! I loved being there with all our family. It actually felt a little bit like Christmas! It even started snowing during the reception...and it was beautiful! We are so excited for Ryan and Shannon!!!



Don't mind the chopped off head...it's the best we got of the 3 of us!!


Jared and Claire are enjoying some alone time in Minnesota. Claire is having some fun mornings with friends and is actually enjoying having all the attention! Here's a shot I got of her with her drain bag before I left.
