Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

thankFUL day

Thanksgiving was great! We cooked. We cleaned. We played Wii. We watched a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. And we cooked, cleaned and ate some more! It was nice just to have a relaxing, stay-at-home, be together kind of day! We were/are/always will be full of thanks. Especially for these little ones.

Don't mind the small choking hazard in Mabel's mouth. It was quickly removed...an occurrence that happens often at this house! I mostly loved the sweet look of Claire loving her baby. What would we do without Annie.

And here's how I found Benson sleeping last night. Sweet dreams! And no, he still hasn't given up his tooth to the tooth fairy! He lost his tooth this week and Mabel finally evened out her front teeth to make a total of 4!
