Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She was on dialysis since she was 3 months old and for much of that time, did dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She receive a much needed kidney / liver transplant on December 18, 2009. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants.

Claire's blood cultures are negative! Hooray. We can stay home from the hospital tomorrow. The procedure is scheduled for the 12th to try to dilate the bile duct again.

The tooth fairy finally showed up last night and apologized for the delay. The increase in tooth decay caused by the Halloween candy has made her one busy lady! Although what perplexed him the most was how the tooth fairy could know his name. He figured "she" must have looked through his school papers and seen the name Benson written all over his papers. And speaking of "she" I found out today that Benson is convinced that the tooth fairy is President Monson's WIFE!! President Monson is the Prophet of our Church and we listen to him speak every 6 months at General Conference. He said he heard in a talk by Pres. Monson that his wife was THE tooth fairy...so he thinks "she's" the one who came to deliver the goods last night!! Wow. I guess kids really do pick up on things you don't even know they're listening to!
